Price increase, Page update and potential release date of version 0.9
Hi everyone
As you might have noticed I finally updated the game's page to reflect the current state of development.
Sadly I'm not yet done with version 0.9, but I am getting close.
I've changed so much of the game that going into every single detail isn't possible anymore. But here is a list of the most noteworthy changes:
- The game now runs in Godot 4
- The game embraces an artstyle reminiscent of old DOS-games
- The game's overall story and gameplay has changed. While all the core elements are still there like performing rituals, I've iterated over what I had and improved it. So much so that it feels very different (but better!) compared to version 0.8
There is still much stuff to do, but I do have, in fact, a potential release date for version 0.9:
I have a sale going on for the release of A Home in Darkness Version 0.9. If we meet the goal of 1000$ earned until June 9th, I promise I'll put in a lot of all-nighters to get the new version done for July 3rd 2024. Of course if we don't meet the goal, I'll still try my best to get it out as soon as possible. But I do need the money right now and will have to earn it through other means if the goal isn't met. Meaning less time for A Home in Darkness and therefore a longer wait time.
You can help reach the goal by buying any of the items in the promotion, including A Home in Darkness.
I recommend buying the game now, if you haven't already, since I do intent to do a price increase for the game as well.
I realized I'm underselling the game at the initial price of 4,99$. Too many changes happened, especially to the scope of the game.
The finished game will have much more to offer than initially planned, which you'll hopefully see in version 0.9 already. In addition I think it's only fair to those who've bought the game early and waited so long for the game to come out. However I didn't want to make this price increase to 9.99$ without giving people time to react.
When will the price increase happen?
On June 10th 2024 I will permanently increase the price of the game to 9,99$.
I know it may seem weird to announce both the price increase and the sale's goal at the same time. But the price increase was initially scheduled for the release of version 0.9 anyway. So announcing it all in one go puts all the information out there for anyone to make an informed decision.
I hope this update clears up any confusion and answered all the questions you have. If not, write me a comment. Until next time bye bye.
